Mar Vista is an assorted residential and commercial neighborhood in West Los Angeles, California. Mar Vista is affixed to Palms on northeast, Culver City covers the east, southeast and south, west by Venice and northwest by Santa Monica.
According to United States Census of 2000, there were 35,492 residents in the 2.9-square-mile with an average of 12,259 people per square mile. Inhabitants increased to 37,447 by 2008 with median age 35. Asian ethnicity is high in the county with whites, 51.3%; Latinos, 29.1%; Asians, 12.8%, blacks, 3.5%; and others, 3.4%.
As per 2008 median yearly household income was $62,611. The average household size of 2.3 people was low for both the city and the county. Owners hold 39.4% and renters occupied on 60.6% of the housing stock and house or apartment.
42% residents aged 25 and older had earned a four-year degree by 2000, a high figure for both the city and the county. Mar Vista neighborhood has Venice High School along with two private schools, a branch public library and a city park.
