Lake View Terrace is a middle-class and ethnically mixed district in San Fernando Valley, Los Angeles, California. The area hosts a large equine community with the private homes zoned for horsekeeping.
Surrounding areas of Lake View Terrace include the Angeles National Forest, Little Tujunga Canyon, Big Tujunga Canyon, Hansen Dam, Kagel Canyon, and a portion of the Verdugo Mountains. Lake View Terrace bordered to Sylmar, San Fernando, Shadow Hills, Sunland, Sun Valley, and Pacoima. The Foothill Freeway (210) is the way to approach the area along with some other major thoroughfares like Foothill Boulevard, Glenoaks Boulevard, Van Nuys Boulevard and Osborne Street.
The population of Lake View Terrace were 12,719 in 2008. 2,790 people per square mile is among the lowest densities for the city and county. A yearly median household income was $67,985.
Los Angeles Police Department, Foothill Community Police Station in Pacoima and Los Angeles Fire Department Station 24 Sunland/Shadow Hills in Sunland serves Lake View Terrace.
The Los Angeles Unified School District have established two elementary schools, Brainard Avenue Elementary School and Fenton Elementary School in Lake View Terrace. Community Charter Middle School, Lakeview Charter Academy and Charter Early College High School are being operated by charter community. Delphi Academy of Los Angeles, a Delphi Academy school is operating in Lake View Terrace since 2003.
Los Angeles Public Library operates the Lake View Terrace Branch Library.
Alyson Pitarre of the Los Angeles Times said that Lake View Terrace “is a hub for outdoor recreation.” The community has equestrian trails, two golf courses, hills, lakes, three parks, and two recreation centers.[2]
The Lake View Terrace Recreation Center in Lake View Terrace includes barbecue pits, lighted outdoor basketball courts, children’s play area, community room, indoor gymnasium, picnic tables, and lighted tennis courts. Several recreational facilities in the Hansen Dam area, including the Hansen Dam Equestrian Center, Hansen Dam Park/Recreation Area and the Hansen Dam Swim Lake Aquatic Center/Pool are in Lake View Terrace.
